Message from the Director
As is becoming the rule more than the exception of late, this year seems to have flown by. Crazy weather and rampant change in Medicaid are the theme for the year. Last year at this time, I was speculating about how the impending Managed Care systems would affect us and our recipients across the state. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Human Service Transportation Delivery was affected less than any other part of Medicaid. We hope that this still rings true at this time next year.
As more and more states find it necessary to move toward a brokerage system for Medicaid Transportation, the federal government seems to seek more and more control over the rules, regulations and implementation process for the establishment of Medicaid Transportation brokerages. We hope that this new federal interest doesn't require us to regress after being on the cutting edge of technology and operating a model program within a model state for all these years. I suppose only time will tell.
We will welcome each new challenge with open arms and an open mind and will continue to strive for excellence in all that we do. Thanks to my excellent staff for another year of hard work and great ideas and thank you for your support and belief in our abilities.
