About the Nutrition Program

The LKLP Nutrition Program consists of three areas:  Congregate Meals, Home Delivered Meals and Home Care Meals.

The Congregate Meals component consists of a setting, which gives seniors an opportunity to participate in activities and attend informational sessions about additional services they may be able to access.  All seniors are encouraged to become active in the congregate site in their own community.

The Home-Delivered Meals aspect of the program is for elderly that are homebound and not able to cook for themselves.  They have no one else in the home who is able to prepare meals for them.

The Nutrition Program also serves some Home Care Meals to clients that are receiving other services from the Home Care Program.  This part of the program serves elderly individuals at risk of going into a nursing home.

Nutrition Program Highlights

The LKLP Nutrition Program Staff attended Training on Senior Safety Day July 28, 2011. The staff also attended a Nutrition Training on August 7, 2011. I also attended the Ky. River Aging Council on September 7, 2011.

We are in the process of ordering the emergency shelf staple meals for our clients. These meals are to be used when the weather is so bad that the staff can’t get to their homes. We always try to deliver the meals before the weather does not permit travel to client homes.

Let us all remember clients, staffs and their families during illness and the loss of a loved one.
