LKLP Community Action Mission Statement

To empower individuals and families, improve quality of life in our communities, and combat poverty by providing necessary knowledge, skills and resources.

Director’s Message

As expressed in our mission statement, our agency is designed to help empower people and strengthen our communities. It is a mission that my team and I are committed to delivering upon each and every day. For more than half of a century, our agency has advocated on behalf of the disadvantaged, fought to end poverty and celebrated the accomplishments of the people we serve.

As an engaged community partner, LKLP is making a profound and much-needed impact on the social and economic health of our four-county region. Through strategic partnerships and the steadfast work of hundreds of volunteers and dedicated LKLP Community Action team members, we are able to offer a variety of life-enhancing programs and services to those in need.

Whether it’s improving one’s job skills, taking parenting classes, enrolling a child in our nationally acclaimed Head Start program, making energy-saving home improvements, securing transportation, or removing any other barrier that allows our citizens to improve their economic standing, LKLP Community Action is there.

With outreach offices in Leslie, Knott, Letcher and Perry counties, LKLP offers a plethora of customized programs and services tailored to meet the individual needs of each of our communities.

We know that by providing a hand up to our friends and neighbors in need, we are not only strengthening families and building better communities, we are investing in Eastern Kentucky’s future. We invite you to reach out, get involved and explore the many ways we are working to make a difference in the lives of so many. Together, we are LKLP Community Action.
